I just read the first chapter and rarely have I read a book that drags you into the story that quickly. Extremely interesting plot and the fight scene is a joy to read. Excited to read more of this one and find her other books.

A real disappointment I love her other work, but this was just not very good. A mix of trying too hard and characters you can't care about make for an awful slog of a book. I am honestly shocked it got past an editor.

phenomenal! As a deep fan of urban fantasy this big is amazing and unique and leaves the entire genre in the dust

About the author
N. K. Jemisin is the first author in history to win three consecutive Best Novel Hugo Awards, all for her Broken Earth trilogy. Her work has also won the Nebula, Locus, and Goodreads Choice Awards. She has been a reviewer for the New York TimesBook Review, and an instructor for the Clarion and Clarion West writing workshops. In her spare time, she is a gamer and gardener, and she is also single-handedly responsible for saving the world from King Ozzymandias, her dangerously intelligent ginger cat, and his phenomenally destructive sidekick Magpie.
